Forestry commision demolishes jumps in Wales

Written by Mark Wednesday, 06 April 2005
Singletrack magazine website reports on Forestry Commission action against un-approved trail builders.

Forestry Commission Wales, part of the national Forestry Commission which farms pine trees on Leith Hill, Surrey has demolished a set of jumps and North Shore constructed in Coed Foeldinas at Dinas Mawddwy.

Dave Farmery, the Forestry local area manager told Singletrack magazine (www.singletrackworld.com) that its forests are not theme parks that any member of the public and mountain biker can build in: "It's important for people to realise that our woods are not theme parks and, while we do all we can to make people aware of the risks when they use our trails, people must assume some personal responsibility for their own safety. These constructions were clearly reckless and could lead to serious injury."
