We've heard from Tim Dicker at the Forestry commission
that the logging in the Wolvens Lane area will be finished by the end of
February.
Set Sunday, March 12th in your diaries - it's the day we hope to give
Summer Lightning a Spring Clean. We need a ton of people to come along and
help out on this, so please set aside the day, or pitch in during a ride.
Rather than rewrite Tim's own words about the clearing, here's what he
had to tell us:
"Whilst I'm on, I'll update you on progress and estimated timings. The
clear fells will be finished within another week or so and then we will do
some thinning work in rest of the area to the west of Wolverns Lane. I
expect all of this area (felling & extraction) will be completed by the
end of February."
Just to recap; although the clear fells will have finished shortly,
there will still be logging going on, so please use common sense and don't
get beaned on the noggin by a tree or anything. Although logging vehicles
are very cool, they are also very heavy.
We hope to be ready to properly sort out Summer Lightning on March
12th, the next free scheduled build day.
