A Redlands Trails team headed out on October 10, to maintain
the popular trails Waggledance, Summer Lightning and Crooked Furrow in the
Surrey Hills.
Redlands Trails members split into teams to carry out a day
of trail maintenance. The team was joined by two teenagers
from Horsham who’d seen the trails and had the confidence
to get involved. So come on you lot, if young’uns can
wield a spade all day and show considerable trail building
abilities so can you.
Drainage channels on all trails were cleared to ensure the
trails stay dry for the winter and any mud build-ups were removed.
A new level table was added to Waggledance to prevent the trail
eroding the hill and to provide riders with a better line.
New berms were added to stage 2 of Summer Lightning.
It is hoped that Sunday’s maintenance will keep the
trails in good condition for the winter, and considering how
much rain we’ve had this week the timing was probably
fortuitous.
As per usual a feast of a picnic was laid on for all those
that came to dig the trails and the obligatory beer at Coldharbour’s
The Plough.
If you would like to join us for future digs please register
to our mailing list and details will be forwarded to you.
